Oil pumps
CIC oil pumps are designed and manufactured to deliver reliable oil flow to the engine in every operating mode.
Housings, shafts and rotors are made of premium materials that meet the quality standards demanded by engine manufacturers. Every CIC oil pump uses the latest technology and precision in Gerotor and parallel rotors in its design, development and manufacturing to guarantee constant, stable oil flow.
The steels used in the springs and pistons of the pressure-regulating valves guarantee very precise control of the oil pressure generated inside the engine, so the pump, integrated into the lubrication system, always operates within the oil-pressure ranges set by the manufacturer in the service manual.
CIC offers:
High-volume oil pumps
Built with concentric Gerotor-type rotors.
- Designed, manufactured and assembled to the highest production standard with high-quality materials.
- Use the latest rotor technology to deliver the highest level of quality and performance.
- High-volume rotors are machined to tight tolerances (under 0.001 in) to guarantee proper engine pressure with correct, efficient pump operation.
High-volume oil pumps
Built with parallel rotors.
- Designed and manufactured to deliver reliable performance at every moment of engine operation and in every engine application they were designed for.
- Only premium materials are used for rotors and housings, for high durability.
- CIC high-pressure oil pumps regulate the outlet flow so that, from cranking speed, the oil pressure needed to prevent accelerated wear is reached.
Requirements for correct installation and operation of a CIC oil pump:
- Before removing the pump installed in the engine, an outlet-flow test and an engine oil-pressure measurement are mandatory. This establishes the current condition of the lubrication system and reveals damage that must be corrected before installing the CIC oil pump.
- It is mandatory to check the operating condition and tolerances of the pump currently installed in the engine to identify internal damage or defects and their causes, so they do not affect the CIC pump about to be installed.
- Check and correct the axial and radial play of the shaft that drives the pump.
- Check and clean all passages, tubes and galleries through which oil circulates inside the engine.
- Never turn the pump rotors without oil inside.
- Pre-lubricate the pump with the oil grade specified by the engine manufacturer to lubricate its interior and remove the anti-corrosion oil deposits applied at the factory to protect the pump.
- Follow exactly the assembly, pre-lubrication and priming procedure found in the engine service manual.
- When installing the main oil filter, NEVER fill it completely. Filling it completely causes two problems: first, a high-pressure air pocket (bubble) inside the filter, which can fracture it; second, back-pressure inside the pump, which reduces outlet flow, delays oil delivery into the engine and damages the pump through wear.
- Before starting the engine, pre-lubricate with oil at the lowest oil pressure in the engine pressure range given in the service manual.
- After starting the engine, perform an outlet-flow and oil-pressure test on the lubrication system.
