CIC timing chain kits
More than half of the vehicles in the world are designed with timing kits that use a drive chain to transmit motion between the crankshaft and the camshafts, delivering torque with low vibration.
CIC timing-system chains are quiet, resistant to high tension and durable, meeting all AISIN technical requirements.
Every CIC kit meets original-equipment quality standards and includes every component the design requires for a professional repair: timing chain, crankshaft sprocket, camshaft sprocket, hydraulic tensioners, guides, gaskets and seals, valves and hydraulic VVT sprockets, among others.
The materials used by CIC meet OE-level manufacturing standards with the highest production quality:
- Integrated design so every component in the kit works together (synergy).
- Quality equivalent to the original design (OE).
- Chains made of chain-specific steels per AISIN standards, giving them high tensile strength.
- High-strength steels for hydraulic tensioners.
- High resistance to abrasive wear on the contact surfaces of the guides.
CIC maintains a firm commitment to offering its customers competitive, top-quality solutions, with technical backup, training and installation information that solves their needs and avoids warranty claims, while developing new kit applications every day according to the demands of the global market.
Pre-lubrication before and during assembly is essential for the correct operation of guides, hydraulic tensioners and drive chains. To avoid damage, the engine must be pressure pre-lubricated after installing the timing kit and before starting the engine.
NOTE: The success and service life of a CIC timing kit depend on the master technician strictly following the service manual instructions during assembly, adjustment and calibration of the timing system.
Timing belt kits
CIC toothed-belt timing kits
Kits that use a toothed drive belt (found in more than half of the vehicles in the world) transmit motion between the crankshaft and the camshafts with low vibration and quiet operation.
Like every timing kit, its operation requires the coordination of all the components in the timing system and a correctly functioning engine: clean, with no oil leaks into the timing area, and with camshaft and crankshaft axial and radial play below the maximum allowed range. That is why CIC studies the technical characteristics of the engines it builds toothed-belt timing kits for and produces complete systems that meet every need and technical requirement set by the engine manufacturer.
All components of a CIC timing kit meet the requirements for fit, wear resistance and service life (when the assembly instructions are strictly followed) for optimal system operation.
The CIC timing kit includes:
CIC toothed-belt timing kits come in two groups:
- Timing systems.
- Timing systems with water pump.
For CIC timing systems where the toothed belt drives the water pump, replacing the pump is always recommended.
The CIC timing kit includes:
- Components of OE-equivalent quality.
- All system components subject to wear (belts, tensioners and guides). Wear on sprockets not included in the CIC kit must always be checked.
- Clear and complete assembly instructions.
CIC recommends that all timing-system components always be replaced, first to guarantee optimal operation and second to avoid engine damage after the new kit components are installed.
Recommendations for correct installation of the timing belt kit
- The repair technician must use all protective equipment and follow the precautions required by current regulations.
- Do not use additives or substances other than those specified in the engine service manual.
- Verify that the timing kit matches the engine code.
- Before installing the CIC timing kit, check the operating condition of the engine as it affects the timing system.
- The timing-system area must be clean and free of oil leaks.
- Always use the tightening torque specified by the engine manufacturer.
- Follow the service manual instructions if the tensioners require a preload before installation, during installation and before starting the engine.
